With the SLR Stirling Moss Mercedes-Benz and McLaren are adding the crowning glory to the model family of their highly successful SLR super sports car with a new, uncompromisingly spectacular car. There is neither a roof nor a windscreen to separate the driver and passenger from the outside world; they enjoy unadulterated high-speed excitement with all the attributes of a speedster.
The new Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss is also characterised by the most sophisticated technology and a breathtaking design which reinterprets the SLR legend. With 478 kW/650 hp the SLR Stirling Moss accelerates its V8 supercharged engine from standstill to 100 km/h in less than 3.5 seconds, and has a top speed of 350 km/h - no other series-production car is at the same time so open and so fast. This extreme concept makes the new high-performance sports car a legitimate bearer of the name of the British motor racing legend and Mille Miglia record-holder Stirling Moss, who drove the legendary Mercedes-Benz SLR racing cars from victory to victory during the 1950s.
The exclusive Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss rounds off the current SLR family and is limited to 75 units. It is priced at 750,000 euros. The SLR Roadster will cease to be manufactured at the end of May 2009 as planned, and production of the Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss will commence in June 2009.
Three letters are all it takes to make car fans' hearts beat faster: SLR. In the 1950s the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR celebrated victory after victory. It won the Mille Miglia and the Targa Florio as well as the Tourist Trophy. It was driven by the stars of the time: Juan Manual Fangio and Karl Kling - and, first and foremost, by the British racing driver Stirling Moss. At ten hours, seven minutes and 48 seconds he still holds the Mille Miglia record.
As the new Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss unites the character of the current SLR models with the fascination of the SLR of 1955. The core values of both the historical and the present-day SLR models include an exciting new design, innovative technology, high-class materials displaying perfect craftsmanship, and, above all: a unique driving experience for all the senses.
Remaining totally true to the specifications of the 300 SLR, the new Silver Arrow's equipment is extremely sophisticated and yet at the same time decidedly spartan, doing without both a roof and side windows. There are just two wind deflectors a couple of centimetres in height to protect the driver and passenger from the airflow. Two air scoops integrated into the bodywork serve as roll-over bars. With this extreme concept the new Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss is visually very different from all the other vehicles which belong to the elite sports car class.
Just like the legendary racing vehicles of yesteryear, the SLR Stirling Moss dazzles with its superlative performance. Accelerating from zero to 100 km/h in less than 3.5 seconds and with a top speed of 350 km/h this puristic high-performance sports car denotes completely new dimensions in open-top driving. And not just because of the impressive performance figures; every time drivers take to the wheel of the Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss their senses are addressed with a previously unheard of intensity, conveying a driving experience in its purest and most sensual form. This automotive thoroughbred thus facilitates the kind of open-air feeling that is utterly unique for a road-going vehicle.
The Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss, its entire bodywork made of fine lightweight carbon fibre, represents a stand-alone design concept. Whilst the Mercedes-Benz designers were working on the body of the new SLR Stirling Moss, they were fully aware every single moment that they were creating a vehicle with a top speed of 350 km/h. At the same time this supreme athlete is highly reminiscent of the SLR racing cars from the 1950s, whose design idiom still never fails to impress to this day.
The Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss sports an exciting, pronounced arrow-shaped form and is characterised by an elongated bonnet and a compact, muscular rear. As there is no windscreen, the exterior and interior flow smoothly into one. The bonnet also stretches from its striking tip right down into the interior, giving the vehicle body a distinctly sleek air. Even when standing still, the sports car radiates such dynamism that the observer immediately falls under its spell.
The vehicle can be closed by two tonneau covers which are carried in the boot. When both tonneau covers and the doors are closed the Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss resembles a sculpture.
In keeping with the puristic exterior of the vehicle, the interior is also reduced to the bare essentials. Surfaces penetrating each other in the instrument panel and doors make for an exciting atmosphere and resonate perfectionism. A mixture of high-class authentic materials such as carbon fibre, aluminium and fine-quality leather sets the style here. An aluminium plate carries the engraved signature of Stirling Moss and covers the area around the shift lever.
Developers working on the Stirling Moss were able to fall back on a wealth of experience gathered when producing the SLR Coupé and Roadster, in particular where the technical base was concerned, with its extravagant carbon-fibre design, high-performance suspension and throaty V8 engine. The common denominator uniting the Stirling Moss with the other members of the SLR family is the aerodynamic concept with a closed underbody and a diffuser in the rear bumper for maximum possible downforce at the rear axle - with one difference: the diffuser here is considerably larger than that on the coupé and roadster.

2010 Mercedes Benz S-Class Car Facelift Spy
The current 2010 Mercedes Benz S-Class Car is getting the nip/tuck treatment, and when the newer, younger looking car arrives in mid-2009 — as a 2010 Mercedes Benz S-Class Car– it will come with an Audi-esque band of LED daytime running lights below the headlamps, and a Porsche-esque band of LEDs in the lower front fascia.

New Mercedes C250 Car has developed a completely new turbo diesel engine generation that will make its world premiere on a C-Class model at the Paris Auto Show.In the limited production New Mercedes C250 Car Prime Edition, the 4-cylinder 2.2-liter diesel produces an output of 204 hp and a massive 500Nm or 368 lb-ft of torque. Combined to a 6-speed manual gearbox, the premiere model can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) in just 7.0 sec and on to a top speed of 250 km/h (155mph).

Top Gear Live Australia usó réplicas de mercedes en un show
En una noticia por demás extraña nos enteramos de que la versión Australiana de TOPSPEED tuvo un show en vivo en donde se veían tres Ferrari quemando llantas.
Sin embargo, aparentemente los Ferraris eran en realidad Toyotas MR2 con un kit de carrocería que simulaba ser uno de los auténticos pura sangre italianos.
Suena a escándalo, ¿no lo creen?
El muy comentado Panamera ya tiene precio. Las versiones que se comercializarán en cuanto salga al mercado son el Panamera S, con tracción trasera, un motor V8 de 4.8L y 400 caballos, tendrá un precio de básicamente 90 mil dólares americanos.
Le seguirá el Panamera 4S con características similares pero tracción en las cuatro ruedas, esta versión costará prácticamente 94 mil dólares americanos.
Para terminar estará el Panamera Turbo que traerá unos 500 caballos provenientes de la misma motorización pero potenciada por un sistema de doble turboalimentador. Su costo será de 133 mil dólares americanos.
Para términos comparativos el Mercedes CLS tiene un precio base de 72 mil dólares, mientras que el Maserati Quattroporte cuesta 120 mi
IMSA patenta su kit de tuning para el Lambo Gallardo
Así es, los Tuneros de IMSA han decidido que su última creación es tan buena que requieren de una patente para protegerla.
En el comunicado de prensa que emitieron dicen que "El nuevo Gallardo LP560 es un prodigio de nuestros tiempos, y aquí en IMSA tenemos el orgullo de decir que ya trabajamos con el y que nuestro kit de tuning estará diponible en poco tiempo."
"Este consiste en un diseño aerodinámico totalmente rediseñado que incluye salpicaderas más anchas y difusores frontales y traseros, logrado de una manera tal que el Gallardo se ve mucho más deportivo aún a simple vista."
Y bueno, pues ustedes son el último juez, pero a nosotros nos gusta el resultado
Hyundai eleva el estatus de Genesis Coupe junto con
Acaban de anunciar en el Motor Show de Chicago que Rhys Millen va a encabezar el programa de automovilismo para el Hyundai Genesis Coupe. Él equipo va a competir en Pikes Peak, la Formula D y varios eventos del Redline Time Attack para 2009.
Para preparar el equipo Rhys Millen Racing, RMR ha preparado un Genesis Coupe con varios puntos de soldadura y cambiaron piezas con el RMR Genesis Coupe de SEMA. Toda esta ha reforzado el chasis y a la vez baja el peso del automóvil. Pero Millen quiere llegar a unas 2400 libras (1088 kilos) para competición.
Tambien han mejorado la aerodinámica, con difusores y alerones ajustables. Los neumáticos mas gruesos estarán ubicados dentro de unos guardabarros mas anchos, gracias a la ampliación de la carroceria. La coupe también tiene un capot ventilado para bajar las temperaturas alrededor del motor.
En vez de utilizar el motor de cuatro cilindros como en el modelo que preparo para el Motor Show de SEMA, se incrementó el tamaño del motor V6 Lambda de 3.8 litros a 4.1 litros y añadieron un turbo cargador de Turbonetics.
Para controlarlo están utilizando una computadora de AEM. Todo esto genera una potencia 550 hp y un torque de unas 520 libras pie, mucho mejor que los 300 hp con los que viene de fabrica.
Para cambiar de marcha Rhys va a utilizar una caja de cambios secuencial de la fábrica Japonesa HKS. Estará colocado sobre una suspensión completamente ajustable de KW y de otras pieas RMR.

La gente de BMW está muy ocupada últimamente, más que de costumbre, ya que han hecho todo un trabajo de mercadotecnia para vendernos la idea de que están creando algo nuevo.
La realidad puede ser lo que cada quien quiera ver, o pueda ver, pero lo cierto es que las ideas detrás del PAS son interesantes. Por cierto que ya tiene nombre, se denomina BMW Serie 5 GT Concept.
Y bueno, como ya hemos comentado en TOPSPEED sobre las metas de los ingenieros y del equipo de diseño, en esta ocasión nos vamos a limitar a invitarte a que visites la galería de fotos
Nissan 37or ntral 20
Los tuneros de Central 20 crearon este paquete para el Nissan 370Z. El bodykit integra lo usual, frente, faldones y parte posterior rediseñadas, aunque quizá lo más notorio a primera vista son las entradas de aire frontales, que lo hacen aparecer como un modelo en extremo potente.
Los rines son negros (ya saben que es la tendencia actual), se suman una suspensión deportiva que "achaparra" al 370Z considerablemente, así como un set de escape totalmente nuevo.
Los frenos son mejorados también con cálipers de 6 pistones adelante y de 4 atrás, que mejoran el frenaje y la sensación de control.
En realidad nos gustó mucho este paquete, especialmente porque no luce exagerado como otros. La parte trasera nos recuerda a un Audi R8 pero no es una copia descarada, además el juego de escapes luce muy bien.

Sólo se fabricaron 317 unidades durante el 2008, de donde podemos adivinar que no es ni un éxito de ventas ni un auto para todo el mundo. En cualquier caso el ultra lujoso Zeppelin está basado en la plataforma del Clase S y dicen que es uno de los pináculos del lujo en todos los sentidos imaginables.
Ya sabemos que cuando uno compra un Maybach es como si comprara un traje sastre, en donde uno va a una sala y escoge las telas del interior, los materiales de revestimiento y el color exacto dentro de una gama muy grande.
EL Zeppelin hace muy respetables 632 caballos de potencia, que lo situan sin duda arriba de sus competidores más acérrimos como el Rolls Royce Phantom o el Bentley Arnage Final Series, lo cual habla bien de Mercedes Benz desde luego.

Chevrolet presenta nuevos modelos en Transformer
General Motors está promocionando su inversión en la película "Transformers 2" en el Motor Show de Chicago. Es evidente por todos los autos de la película y el Autobot amarillo que mide 3 metros en altura. De la misma manera que en la primera, los Autobots van a ser varios vehículos de la GM. Tendremos el Camaro amarillo, llamado Bumblebee, un GMC Topkick llamado Ironhide y un Hummer H2 llamado Ratchet.
En esta película van a presentar un Chevrolet Volt azul llamado Jolt. Tambien habrá dos Chevrolets compactos modificados. Mudflap seria un Chevrolet Trax rojo y Skids seria un Chevrolet Beat verde. La atracción principal será sin embargo la presentación de un modelo del cual le estuvimos hablando hace un par de horas, el Concept Chevrolet Centenal, basado en el Corvette, llamado Sideswipe.
General Motors espera que, al introducir estos nuevos modelos a la pantalla grande, va a crear mayor interes en la marca y hasta que tal vez aumentan un poco las ventas de la compañia. Mal no le vendría...
